GBfoods is proud to participate in the first CBE JU FLAGSHIP project that aims to transform the botanical extracts industry, with a scalable, replicable model for the European bio-based sector.

This resource-efficient project aims to industrially deploy a versatile and multi-product digital biorefinery with a NetZero Carbon ambition. By integrating the entire supply chain—from feedstock to end-users—it enables batch-optimized cascading feedstock valorization, ensuring maximum value with zero waste and zero emissions.

 As STAR Industriale S.r.l, our role within the project focuses on incorporating botanical extracts into existing recipes to replace chemical preservatives and reduce product defects. This approach enhances the naturality, sustainability, and nutritional properties of our products while maintaining high-quality standards.

At GBfoods, we believe that embracing circular economy principles benefits both our industry and the environment, driving us toward a more sustainable future for generations to come.

Launched in June 2023, the project will run for 4.5 years and brings together 20 partners across Europe, including:
